Q. I get an error message saying "System Time has been altered, change to current time."

A. This error will occur for one of two reasons. The computer system date or time has been changed and Rudiments 1.0 cannot authenticate your license privileges. Or a patch release was installed before the full product. If the full product was not yet installed, install it first, restart the computer is necessary, then install the patch immediately afterwards. Make sure to restart your computer when asked.

Q. How do I change the resolution of my screen to 1024 X 768?

A. Treblis Software will release Rudiments 1.0 to support lower resolutions. The recommended resolution will remain 1024 X 768 and above. The lower resolution will appear large on your screens, but you will still be able to achieve the same great results as you would with the higher resolution.

Changing the resolution:

-Bring up the Control Panel by clicking Start | Settings | Control Panel

-Double-click the Display icon.

-Select the Settings tab.

-Change the Screen Area to 1024 X 768.

-Click the Test button [for Windows® NT users]. If the screen looks okay proceed to the next step.

-Click the Apply button and follow the instructions afterwards.

Q. Why does the notes appear unproportional with the staff lines and other musical symbols? It doesn't seem to work properly and answers are always incorrect?

A. Rudiments 1.0 does not currently support Large Fonts. You must change the display to support small fonts for it to work properly.

-Bring up the Control Panel by clicking Start | Settings | Control Panel

-Double-click the Display icon.

-Select the Settings tab.

-Click the Advanced button.

-Change the font size to Small Fonts.

-Click the Apply button and follow the instructions afterwards.

Q. There should be more options for timing. Some students would rather go at their own pace. Can you provide the ability to extend the timer or change the level achievement level of difficulty?

A. Students will have the ability to change the achievement level so they could proceed with the next exercise in the lesson. The timer cannot be modified as the purpose of this product is to have the student complete the exercise within the specified time limit. This will reinforce the students skills and prepare them better for the real world music theory exam environment.

Q. The eraser is difficult to use. It requires 3 separate clicks to remove a note from the staff. First you select the eraser button, then you click on the note, and then you unselect the eraser button. Timing is important. Especially when the clock is ticking.

A. Several lessons allow you to drag and drop the music symbols to the desired location. On several occasions, you may not need to use the eraser. If you choose to use the eraser, it is not necessary to unselect it after you are done using it. Simply select the next musical symbol you want to work with.

Q. It would be good to have a practice mode. There doesn't seem to be enough time to finish the lessons.

A. The Practice Mode is added Rudiments 1.0. This will give you enough time to learn the subject before doing the exercise using Test Mode. While you are in Practice Mode, your score will not count towards your average.

Q. The lesson begins too quickly and the timer does not stop when I bring up help.

A. Before each lesson begins, you will get a prompt asking whether you are ready to start. There is also a help button for you to review the lesson before you start.

Q. The terminology used for Interval size is not standard. We would prefer to see M for major, and m for minor, rather than + and -.

A. We provided 3 options for Interval  terminology for you to choose from. It will be set from the options menu in the release version of Rudiments 1.0
